“Truth” begins where the last episode left off: Smith (Rufus Sewell) has caught Joe (Luke Kleintank) rifling through the folders in his home office. The writing and performances were top-notch in this episode, but I don’t think it would have been as much of a success without Hawkinson’s visual fluency and Anderson’s confident hand. It doesn’t seem coincidental that The Man in the High Castle’s best episode yet was shot by James Hawkinson, the visual artist who turned Hannibal into one of television’s most striking shows, and directed by Brad Anderson, the filmmaker behind Session 9, Transsiberian and The Machinist.
